Fresh new tabletop gaming forum? MtG section? Well, with official spoilers on the horizon and four cards already revealed, talking about Fate Reforged, and what we can expect to see in it, seems a great way to start things off!
To save space, I won't be posting the actual cards here, but a decent spoiler site (I'd recommend MTGSalvation) will help you follow along.
So, to start things off, here's a list of what we know:
So, what do we all think of the new cards, and what else do you reckon we can expect to see? Personally, I'm thinking more modal spells, more funky historical legendaries (since we have seen a prominent clan figure, Yasova, at rare rather than mythic, maybe implying a higher-than-normal concentration of legendary creatures), and maybe even some kind of mechanic which simulates messing around with the flow of time itself...
(please don't let it be suspend)
To save space, I won't be posting the actual cards here, but a decent spoiler site (I'd recommend MTGSalvation) will help you follow along.
So, to start things off, here's a list of what we know:
- This set's going to be drafted with both Khans and Dragons of Tarkir, so it will most likely have mechanical synergy with both.
- There is at least one new keyword, bolster, an action keyword (in the vein of proliferate, populate and scry) which adds +1/+1 counters to the creature you control with the least toughness. The only card we've seen it on thus far bears an Abzan watermark, but it remains to be seen whether the mechanic will be tied to that clan alone.
- Hybrid mana is coming back, though we don't know yet whether this will just be in ability costs or whether we'll have actual hybrid spells. (I, for one, hope it's the latter.)
- Judging by the cards we've seen, modal spells may well be a thing, which would make sense given the theme of choice and change.
- Bolster, as well as Valorous Stance, might suggest a small toughness matters subtheme. Am I reading too much into this? Not sure.
