You forgot it was also one of the most BADASS videos of this month. Let's just say I can no longer watch a fictional character without thinking "That's not how it works..."

This has shown up on my timeline so much. I don't mind, but... it's beginning to become a bit much :-P

Well it seems I was pretty wrong: geekdad.com/2015/01/danish-archer/Lots of myths debunked in this article. While this guy is cool, he is inaccurate in a lot of historical stuff.

I'm always kind of skeptical when stuff like this pops up, certainly cool and flashy but there's almost always another side to it!

I'm always kind of skeptical when stuff like this pops up, certainly cool and flashy but there's almost always another side to it! I have to agree to certain extent: many acient greek pots show that the spartans fought naked with their spears over their shoulders, but due to convenience, it is actually much more possible that spartan soldiers did wear armor and actually held their spears below their shoulders. It is possible that the part of the ancient art depicting archers is actually just a fantastic portrayal of archers. Plus, let's not forget how easily most of us were tricked by the clever editing on this ping pong video.

Yeah, any time somebody has a surprise for you, the best response is to think to yourself, " How likely is it that we all somehow missed what this dude discovered?"
Now, at times, there is legitimacy- but it's not usually the case.
A further issue is to remember that nothing is really forgotten. Oh, we don't know precisely what Greek Fire was but we've got some guesses- mostly, we know history. Anything that could "upend" our understanding of history is almost certainly wrong in one of two ways: 1.) It's a fake, or 2.) the person claiming it upends our understanding of history does not actually understand history themselves.
