You mean it's my turn with the talking stick?
Hi, my name is John, and I'm what you would call a grognard
I've been doing RPGs since D&D Basic, Ive played, run and designed (with little success) games for over 35 years. There are few systems I wouldn't at least try, and several others I own.
I've been a demo rep with two different companies (Kenzer & Co and Steve Jackson, whom I'm still working with)
Outside of gaming, my interests are reading (Lois McMaster Bujold, Jim Butcher, and the late Robert Asprin are my faves) and karaoke
Anything else you wish to know, just ask!

Wow cool!! Game design is one of my interests and something I have absolutely no experience in, but hope to someday.
Welcome to the forum!

How'd you get into game design? well, more I tried making my own (still have all my notes. Maybe someday I'll actually make a prototype!)

Hail and well met! It is good to know someone who has been involved with the business more intimately than as a player! What duties did you have as a demo rep with the two companies?

Basically, I show up at cons and game stores and show people how to play the games the company offered, in return foir free product Kenzer would send me products to demo (I got two in my brief time with them), but were very strict about how often I had to demo (and my schedule was too crazy at the time to pull it off, plus only one game store in the area at the time and no room to run demos) Steve Jackson's demo program (the Men In Black) stated I had to provide my own games to start, but I got credit at their website for my duties, and they just require a demo every 2-3 months to stay active (of course, now my sceduyle has loosened up a bit and I'm visiting 3 stores a month!). I've been in the program for 5 years now and pretty much own the entire library, as well as Christmas gifts for friends If you like playing games and enjoy teaching new people (and are a good sport about losing; I find I get targeted by newbies a lot!), I would get in contact with your favorite game company's website to see if they have a demo program

If anyone lives in the Iowa area, I'll be at Iowa City's convention, Gamicon (Feb 20-22) along with 3 other MIBs in the Eastern Iowa area ("4 MIBs in a 300-person con? ?" -- our support coordinator)
