So while waiting to receive their new mission, the party decides to blow off some steam by doing a little non-lethal fighting tournament between them.
And as it turns out from the draw, the monk/cleric human (Garr) gets to fight the hafling rogue (Millow). Needless to say, there was quite a bit of tension between the characters, due to the obligatory shenanigans the rogue constantly got himself into. Which means Garr is quite looking forward to giving Millow a good pummeling!
The fight begins! Garr wins initiative, and promptly grapples him while simulteaneously dealing a fair amount of damage... Garr's all too happy about the way the fight is going!
But Millow is unfazed. He simply turns to the DM:
Millow: "I'm going to use my "special" sneak attack!"
DM: "Really? Are you sure?"
Garr is now quite nervous, trying to look over the rules on whether there is some form of sneak attack that you can use in a grapple, asking if he is trying to faint, etc.
Millow: "Yeah, I'm sure!"
DM: "Alright! Make your roll! Garr, I'm gonna need you to roll too!"
Garr is now sweating. Millow lands a very good roll, while his isn't anything to brag about...
DM: "Oh, ok. Nothing happens, Garr. It's your turn!"
Garr is a bit weirded out, but, since everything is fine, he just proceeds to enjoy the rest of his punching Millow into unconsciousness. He proceeds to win the whole mock tournament, is feeling great about himself! The next day, however...
DM: "Garr, you wake up and realize that all of your 5000 gold pieces are gone! Meanwhile, Millow is coming back from the shop with a brand new magical axe..."
