Hello and warm welcome! This thread shall be used for all OOC discussion, which is a very important part of the Mouse Guard system. All players should get used to the board's controls and be prepared to make reasonably regular check-ins, even if just to announce a short absence.
To start things off, we should start batting around ideas for characters. One player will also need to act as the team leader, preferably with the highest-ranked Guard as a character. It would also be good if one player selects a Tenderpaw character to be mentored; seeing as the patrol is a group of four, it would make sense for a youngling to be assigned to gain experience.
Also, as a little bonus if I can get back into practice, I may be able to draw character art for you. It's been awhile, but I was a dab hand at it.

I was thinking about playing a patrol leader (rank), being skilled in either physical or verbal combat, with also some crafting skills. I don't know what you guys had in mind, but I'm sure we can make it work. I'm not married to the idea just yet :-D

Are you looking for a fifth player to be the tenderpaw? Or one of the four that already signed up? If you need more, (don't bump anyone for me) I'd be happy to participate in a PbP. If you've got enough, I will just silently stalk you're campaign through the boards... *insert evil laughter of your choice here*

That said, if we get a no-show from the original four, then certainly you could jump in!

I'm not married to the idea just yet :-D From reading the books and the system, I have to say do not base your character on the skills they will have- yoir character is all abput personality! Who are they, what do they believe in, how do they think- the skills and abilities are only echoes of these very important aspects. This game system is about character interaction, not dice rolling, so build a Guardsmouse you will love to play as! Don't try to min-max the party, as the best stories and adventures in this game comes from challenging yourselves and inter-party conflict. Also, if you guys have too easy of a time dealing with my obstacles, I can dial them up to eleven quite easily, and that would be bad.

Oh dear, I am spamming. Ah well.
I am remembering now that character creation is meant to be a group thing where you guys all answer questions and fill out stuff at the same time.
So, in keeping with that, let's go one part at a time. I am at work and on a cell phone right now, so I can't actually go into detail of the first bit, but if Sethani is around and about, he can detail the opening questions of the Recruitment chapter. Failing that, I'll pose the questions when I get home in a few hours.

I know it's not about stats, I have a personality deeply ingrained in my head. I was trying to answer the questions in a non-spoilery way for the others :-D. But I can get some of the book going here, I'll update as a go. :-D After that you do go through the skills

So, to answer question 1) I was thinking about playing an older mouse, having seen quite some action when he was younger. That he used to be quite in your face and a show-off, until it went heroically bad. Now he's (too) careful and has the wounds to prove what going too far will do to you. A bit of a calmer lead back person.
How much do you want us to post/answer at the same time? One question a time, until we're all happy with our answer?

Whoa, I lost track of this one. Life's been happening. Anyway, I have a rough outline of my character. If we still want to do this, I can go ahead and do the stats. Chadwick of Sprucetuck, student prodigy who was expelled for blowing up the university's laboratory with one of his more "inspired" experiments. Sent away to join the Guard to "knock some damn sense into him". Specializes in science, medicine, and other intellectual skills. Planned on having him as a Guard, but could work as a Tenderpaw if we don't have any takers for that.
